Traveling solo can be a truly incredible experience. Not only can you avoid getting stressed out at other people in your group when they take too much time to get ready or make you miss an important event – but you can also enjoy some much-needed time alone. Following, we’re going to look at just some of the places that you should consider going, if a solo trip is on the cards in your future. 1. Lombok and the Gili Islands
If you’re looking for culture, sunshine, and stunning scenery, then Lombok isn’t quite as overrun as a Bali, but it offers many of the same wonderful vacation benefits. Over recent years, Lombok has begun to develop a great reputation amongst independent belt wallet travelers who want to explore solo adventures and learn how to do new things – like surfing, snorkeling, or diving through stunning clear waters.
With the massive Gunung Rinjani volcano, lush green fields, and hot springs, there are plenty of wonderful places to explore in this area. At the same time, you can always visit the three tiny but wonderful islands just off the northwest coast of Lombok, known as the Gili islands. It’s like having several trips in one!
2. Kenya
Looking for something completely different to take you away from the hustle and bustle of city life? Then Kenya could be the perfect option for you. Not only does it have a rich ecosystem to explore, and a reputation for having some of the most incredible wildlife in the world, but Kenya is also a stunning environment full of culture and history.
If you’ve always liked the idea of going on a solo safari, then you can join a group or head out with a guide to check out the local elephants, lions, leopards, and black rhinos in the area! It’s easy to find plenty of great accommodation in Kenya, and you won’t struggle to get around on public transport either. In fact, the people in Kenya are so friendly that you might find that some strangers welcome you back to their house for dinner! 3. Japan (Hokkaido)
When it comes to exploring new cultures with your worldwide charge adapter in hand, there are few worldwide destinations for solo travel that are more incredible than Japan. Travelling into Japan is like exploring a brand-new world, filled with friendly locals that are happy to welcome tourists from all corners of the world. People who are travelling alone are made particularly welcome in Hokkaido – the most northern and raw area of the country’s four main islands.
Today, Hokkaido is known throughout the world for it’s beautiful natural environment. You can enjoy plenty of great activities during your vacation, including skiing, hiking, and even birdwatching if you feel drawn to nature.
4. Spain (Barcelona)
If you’re travelling alone but you want to feel as though you’re constantly part of a giant party, then Barcelona is one of the best places for you to travel. The area is lined with cafes and restaurants which makes it perfect for people-watching, and you can always travel outside of the busy city to spend some time relaxing on the beach if you need to escape the crowds.
In the evening, you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere to eat alone if you’re feeling a little lonely, as you can simply join in with the locals and nibble on some delicious tapas as one of the many wonderful bars. Just remember to use your RFID blocking pouches, just in case.
5. Ireland
If you don’t mind leaving the sunshine behind for a week or two, then Ireland could be a wonderful place to visit on your next solo vacation. If you don’t want to eat alone, or you’re feeling a little uncomfortable, then you can always grab some food from a gourmet market to eat on the go.
The best part about exploring New York alone is that you don’t have to worry about fighting with your friends about which landmark you should visit or which gallery you want to see. You can create your own must-see list of attractions and hit them all at your own pace.
7. Thailand
Finally, the gorgeous Islands and beaches of Thailand make it an incredible place to visit – no matter who you are or what you like to do. Whether you choose the Andaman coast to the west or the gulf coast to the east you’re bound to find plenty of people who are happy to chat with you and keep you company.
This land of smiling faces is also blessed with a wonderful tropical climate, so you can soak up the sun for as long as you like before you return home!
